Oil Filter for Champion Generator

My 14K Champion Standby Generator is due for an engine oil and filter change. To date my dealer has been unable to furnish a replacement filter. The part
number on the filter is #101766. A search locally for a 'generic' replacement filter have not been successful. Napa cannot cross reference that number for
example. Inquiries to the company to find a generic replacement number yield no replies. The filter measures a nominal 2 7/8 inch diameter and about 4 3/8
inch long. With a google search using that part number the closest I find is a maintenance kit from Home Depot that includes two spark plugs, an air filter,
and a oil filter. But from the picture it appears the number on the filter is different and it appears shorter than my #101766 filter. Any help is greatly
appreciated. It is almost time for a change of oil and filter.

Do you know the thread size? If it's 3/4-16 I can get you a part# that should would work, but the dimension of this filter is 2 7/8 by 3 1/2 tall if it's not too short. I don't know if you need the extra length to access the filter.

For some odd reason. On some items you need. You can't buy the part they came with.I have a printer with the same problem. But you can find a cross match. Just as Mule Meat has shown you.

I suspect the manufactures are using some part only available to them in bulk. Seems like a bad practice from a customer support side of their business.

The 101766 could be a production only filter. Just as the ink cartridge. That came with my printer. Is smaller than the one I had to buy. To replace it.

Pure 14 HP Champion as they make their own engines. Thanks to the list from Mule Meat my local NAPA store could cross reference at least two of the numbers.
He feels better if two or more of the numbers cross to a good NAPA number. One number crossed to a '64 to '68 model vehicle I had never heard of. So there is
a NAPA filter coming for tomorrow morning's pickup. We shall see. If it fits I'll order several more to have on hand. Extra length is no problem as there is
plenty of room inside the housing. This model has the butterfly doors so there is easy access to the engine. And the filter is right there in front of you
with the doors open.

I would take the filter off, and take it down to a lawn mower shop, let them match it up, or a auto parts store, easier to match it by sight, than numbers, who knows even Wall-Mart might have it.

Thread size, gasket size, relief valve pressure if any, check flow valve if any . Max height and max outside diameter . Then good to go.

Yes, on the 3/4-16 thread. "3/4" is stamped inside the filter housing. The gasket measurement, center to center, is 2 5/8 inches. Outside diameter is a nominal 2 7/8 inches and a nominal overall length of 3 1/2 inches. I hope this helps you. The filter that NAPA got for me is not even close. Thanks for your help.

If it is 3/4-16 thread, none on the long list previously posted will work as they are M16 thread.

That napa 1348 fits your stated parameters. As well as wix 51348.

If you want more capacity longer filter you can use this to "driil down" to get a group of filers with same thread, diameters etc.

I ended up with some NAPA 1516 filters. They meet my criteria: 3/4-16 thread, correct diameter of gasket, and nominal 3 1/2 inches long. It is frustrating that the company will not respond to my emails for an alternate part number to their 101766. Guess there is no reason to give out your trade secrets so to speak. Oh well, mission accomplished.

No, I don't imagine there is. I had trouble finding one 3 1/2 inches long, the length of the OEM filter. There is enough space inside the case for a longer
one.

These have the same thread and gasket size. no relief valve .Wix 57134 and 51802.
