Oil Filter Gasket

Sumpter 2

New User
I have a M&W Turbo on a John Deere 4010. It has the early oil filter canister. I need a gasket for the canister. The canister is 4 3/4 inches tall and 4 1/8 inches wide.
The gasket is 4 1/8 inches in diameter. The canister reminds me of the type that you used to see on the old Chevrolet cars and trucks. Any suggestions where I might find one or the possibility of making one out of cork.

Thanks
Gary

Here's a dumb reply, but, can't the JD dealer
find it?
The Big NAPA oil filter catalog,(big as a Sears)
lists gaskets, in the back, by size, and,(I think),
by parts number, and it may cross reference to
application.(it's -5 this morning, and too cold
to run out to the shop to get mine).
My 65 IH Scout uses one of those cannister oil
filters, and 2 sizes of gasket come in the box
with the NAPA replacement element.

Check a fram or napa filter for that oil cup. In many cases the fitler comes with a new cup gasket. i know the 1004 cartridge from napa for my ford 134/172 engines comes with the gasket.. same with the 1010 / c3p cartridge for my 8n's, as well as the cartridge 9 forget the # ) for my IH cub... all came with new canister gaskets.. etc..

If it were mine I would eliminate the whole thing you don't see them on factory turbos.I had 3 tractors with M&W turbos never used them and had no trouble with the turbos. With them it takes longer for the oil to get to the bearings on start up.
