OIL IN THE MANIFOLD

STARTED MY TRACTOR TODAY THAT I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RESTORING, IT HAS NOT BEEN STARTED IN 7 YEARS. A WEEK OR SO AGO, I PUT A QUART OF ATF (8OZ IN EACH CYLINDER, REBULT THE CARB AND DISTRIBUTOR AND WHEN I TURNED THE THING OVER TODAY, IT STARTED RIGHT OFF. HOWEVER, THERE IS A LOT OF OIL COMING OUT THE MAINFOLD. IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ATF. IT LOOKS LIKE MOTOR OIL. I AM NO MECHANIC, SO WHAT WOULD CAUSE A LOT OF OIL TO RUN THRU THE MANIFOLD. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP.

Most likely it is ATF but since the exhaust manifold has lots of carbon build up and the exhaust pipe also the ATF turns black.

Dwbelcher,I you put about 8oz of atf in each cylinder It will smoke and spit dirty atf out for awhile.The atf has turned black from dissolving the carbon in the valves and cylinders.You should have remov4eed the plugs and spun the motor over several times to expel the access atf out first. Run it now to burn off the atf.

Couple of ounces per cylinder is plenty to do the trick if it is going to do anything..Less
residue to clean up too..

ditto what the others said? a quart of atf and soot looks alot like motor oil...
