Oil pan Gasket. The old oil pan gasket was cork the new one looks like blue paper. (purchased gasket kit from yesterdays tractors) Do I user silicon?

no silicone needed. just changed the oil in my N today in fact. I do smear some oil on the new gasket though..... needed or not.....my granpa always did...... so I do.

Pockets, I don't think he is talking about the drain gasket.

The pan gasket can use sealant if you like, but not required. I don't like slicone in any flavor however, as if you read the label it probably isn't approved for "continuous" immersion in oil or gasoline and if you get too much on the gasket it will squeeze out and pieces are likely to dislodge and end up circulating with your oil and plugging an oil passage somewhere.

My favorite is Permatex No 2. It's really good stuff but can be troublesome to remove if you have to go back in anytime soon. Since oil pan gaskets are usually once in a generation thing.... go for it.
