OIL PUMP GASKET/up date

I posted last fall about a 44 g that I had pick up and it had a engine nock. I got the engine block on a stand. the rest of the engine on the bench. To refresh my story I had a engine knock and 4 to 8lbs of oil pressure, plus my carb keeps plugging with rust, the tank is off the tractor now. All my bearings all are good cam, crank, rods no stuck valve in the head. The pistons are M and W add power 4 and 1/16 look to be in good shape. The ridge on the sleeves has a noch just to ketch your finger nail. [But the oil pump had some thing lose in side witch turn out to be a head of a broken screw that did not blong.] NOW TO MY QUESTION. The gasket was bad and when i exposed the gears it fell apart. Also the pressure by-pass spring seems so weak that in was not tuching the top of the pin, Seems to me that when I remove that pin the spring should jump out. *I need the gasket posable may need a spring or shims, the spring seems like a limp noodle.

Thanks ILLEFTY, turns out that that gasket comes in the engien over-hall kit. I called Montes on friday and they have everything i will need. They sound like a great asset to us.
