oil pump help

I have one of the oil pump over haul kits sold here bit there were no instructions with it. Does anyone have any tips on installation?

Pack it full of vaseline upon reassembly.
I also turned the gears and sucked vaseline into the pick up tube and out of the pump into the oil feed a bit.

I noticed the new gears do not have a screw between the shaft and the gear. Are the new ones just pressed on or do I have to try and drill and tap one in?

Ya" got me! Here I sit with my decaying gray matter trying to remember my oil pump. Pictures would be nice. You got some? I believe your going to drill and tap. Press on works until the shaft warms up, gears expand and slip and the oil pressure goes to zip. I believe, Believe,
I drilled and tapped my gears. That was several years ago. As long as your playing, go down to your local hydraulics rebuild/supply shop and get the seals for the oil pick up tube.
Why bother rebuilding the pump to have it suck air past the seals? Initial O/P should be around 35 PSI cold/hot on a rblt engine.
Most people on this forum don"t replace those 60 years old seals when doing an engine and then wonder why the O/P is low after an engine job.
Wanna take the chance too? Seals run about $5 for the pair.

I tapped the gears and replaced the seals. I will try in the morning to see if I have pressure. Saying a prayer here! I think it will work. The gears were very worn and the pressure relief valve was stuck, other than that it was in fine shape! LOL.

Well I put everything back together and with just using the starter to turn it over I have 20 lbs of pressure. Big improvement over zero oil pressure.

Thanks for the help.
