Sigh... I knew I'd start a fight by posting that. And perhaps I should tone it back: Going back over some of your posts, I can't find an example of where you called someone that 'directly', so I apologize for saying you did. But even if not said 'directly', you certainly imply it about folks who may have different opinions. And you have a penchant for turning even the mildest mechanical discussions opinionated. And I know full well I'm not the first (nor twentieth) poster on here to note this. I'm just maybe the first one to post about it. And you've made more than a couple comments making fun of or criticizing Canada. Which is an opinion you're certainly entitled to, but I'm not sure why you need to post it on here - especially when the discussion/thread is completely unrelated.

I don't want to start a fight. And maybe I'll get kicked off for escalating this. But I find it irksome on such a polite and friendly friendly forum when simple, friendly, and intelligent discussions are suddenly be derailed by 'sissy', 'jailbait', and biased talk. To try and diffuse things a bit, I'll say 95% of the time I agree with your views and opinions. But I don't agree with how you post or express them, or bring them into what should be civil and (most significantly) unrelated discussions.

I didn't dig too deeply here, just a few examples. Consider not only the tone/wording, but also how completely unrelated to the topic at hand these comments were:

From a discussion about tire longevity:

A reply to someone casually saying on their Craftsman vacuum was good quality and lasted a long time:

From a chap asking about his impact driver:

From a chap asking why he can't post pictures:

From a discussion about the value of a Massey 555. This one rankles, as us Canadians on here (more than a few) would take great exception to Canada being called a 'Welfare State'.

From a discussion about usability of old tires:

From a discussion about contacting a buyer:

From a discussion about TV aerial reception:

From a discussion about oil types for an 8N. Here you were criticizing TOH, who's one of the most frequent and helpful contributors on here.

And of course, there were your comments above which (as Russ from MN pointed out) were far more pointed than what was called for in a discussion about bulk oil. And yours about Tony's son's thesis work.

Mr. Daniel, I accept your apology as I stand flattered by your personal attention you have apperently bestowed on myself, and enjoy your cut N paste skills! I have been known, professionally, to gladly consult on oil change intervals for various machinery maintained in challenging conditions. I do not profess to advance effective remedies for thin skin.

we have a lid remover that pops it off, but yeh we have 1000's of pails and can't find a way to get rid of them, I know barrels are easy to find someone to take them here but pails i have no idea what to do with
When I was getting oil for my truck, they delivered the barrels and there was a core charge for the empty's and picked them up at the same time.

As far as empty buckets go I can't keep enough around as we use them for grain and garden produce and tool parts storage. and I seem to always run a few over, the handles break. Then they get incinerated.

wow ,1000's of pails. that's a lot of pails. i can see hundreds though. advertise them, then u have beer money for when u go to town to get oil. then u will want to go to town. 😆

We bought oil in 30 gal barrels back in the 1970$ because it was so much cheaper than quarts back then. Just do not set them on their bottom and leave them outside. They will fill with water, it’ll make no difference how tight the bungs are.

the thing is , you dont set them flat on the ground never, as of course the water will get inside . set the barrel ; on a plank horizontally to the barrel bungs. then the water runs off. plus now barrels are sealed really good with the second sealing cover . buy yes its not he best to store them outside.
