oil warning light

The original subject was "Re: oil warning light".

I don"t know if this is a low oil warning light but there is a little red light just to the right of the steering wheel. When you turn the switch on it lights up and stays on until you turn the switch off. I can"t keep this light in the socket because the 2 clips that holds it in are broke off. I would like to know where I could find one of these.

Don't know where you can get one but if it is to the right of the wheel and above the throttle handle it is the oil presure light for the sos tranny, at least on the pre 65 tractors. It should go off when the tractor is above idle and the pto handle is all the way out or in and the inching pedal is up or down all the way. If it stays on all the time you might have something out of adjustment as the light comes on when the presure at rear of tranny drops below three pounds. my 2 cents worth Greg NE

This lighjt grounds to a switch on the output housing of the tranny. The ground wire enters the center housing near the hydraulic dipstick and traction disconnect.

This lube pressure switch for the transmission is normally closed (light on) at 2 psi.

Any of several things could be happening here. You could have a short to ground somewhere in the wiring from the light to the switch. Or you could have a faulty switch. Or it could be telling you what it is supposed to- low transmission lube pressure.

The socket for the light is pretty generic. You should be able to get a new one to fit at most auto parts stores.
