I could not resist after seeing the Moline shreading stalks. We were doing the same thing the other week, so here are some pictures of our Molines hard at work.

The G-955 is shredding with the JD 27 - 15 foot flail and the G-1355 is planting barley with the great plains drill. We covered quite a few acres that day and put a hurting on the diesel fuel supply on the east coast. :-)

Enjoy

Nice pictures, you've got me beat. Very nice looking G955 & 1355. Now I'll have to start looking for a bigger MM...

Thanks Joe. I wish the G-955 ran as good as it looks. I got it out of a collection and it had sat without being run for about 10 years and now the engine is having some compression problems. I think the rings are stuck from sitting. I am using marvel mystery oil on it and it is slowly getting better but it still has problems starting and is not up to the HP it should have. I guess I am going to have to overhaul it sometime down the road.

That flail is a workout for that tractor in high 3rd in good fodder and if it was running right it really should not be. You run that rig all day and you will hear it all night :-)

Oh I like your M-670 too Alan, I always liked that nose on the MMs. I guess I just like the G-series molines as my favorite. Your picture the other day just got me to downloading a few of my own pictures.

Thanks for sharing your pictures too.

Got any more pictures? A person can never get enough. Ive alwayse liked the G955 and G1355s. Is the cab interior redone in the 955 too? Any pictures at the controls?

Great looking working MM's. You must have that 1355 dialled in just right, little or no smoke and thats a fair load behind it.

Do you plant the barley for fall grazing or are their varieties of barley that can be planted in the fall and grow again in the spring like winter wheat? We use to plant a lot of barley in the spring and harvest in the fall for our farrow to finish hog set up, but as i remember hard freezes in the spring did not do it any good. Or maybe your far enough south that you can grow crops year around?

Oh, I have lots of pictures, just getting time to get them downloaded and posted is the problem. I think I have some better pictures of it shredding on the other camera, I will have to look. I dont know if I have any of the cab on the G-955 or not, it is pretty well restored inside, just needs a little electric work and a few door seals and it will be in good shape.

Here is a picture of the G-955 running the field cultivator and the 1850 4x4 diesel rolling it flat.

Oh yeah, that 1355 has a newly rebult 585 engine with a turbo sitting on top. It dynoed at 180HP and not a bit of smoke. It runs really nice at that level and just plays with that big no till drill. We use it mostly for that big drill and for tillage work along with the Oliver 2150 4x4.

We do graze some of the small grains, but mostly we plant in the fall and use them as a cover crop over the winter and then either run the barley and wheat in the spring for grain or mow it in April and wet bale and wrap it for the cattle. We plant wheat rye and barley because they all come ready to harvest at different times in the spring and allows us a little more time to either get them baled or harvested for grain before planing corn or beans.

The small grain is the double crop behind the corn or beans and then we take it off early for hay so we can plant corn in May. Works well, but keeps you hopping to get it all done.

ShepVa Have you ever aerial seeded your sm grains into growing corn or beans for a head start?? If so, how did it work for you?

Yeah, there was an outfit around here doing that this year. They had to have 10K acres or something to make it worth them coming and doing it and you had to use their certified seed. It was pretty pricy if I remember right. I know some of the neighbors tried it but we did not. I will be interested to see how they get along next spring with it.

Neat idea if it works.

Wow, if I lived a little closer i would love to see all of these machines! You have some choice yellow there...

It seems that every time you post I see a new one, like that Ollie fwa. love seeing 'em work.
