Hard to beat the look of metal under the hood vs the plastic sound deadening covers. I recently found an opportunity to see one of the car magazine fables in person. There is evidence Ford did make a few of these. Whether this is the actual car or a car rebuilt from the history books it is still an awesome piece of machinery.

Ford did make a 427 SOHC engine, but it was only available over the counter has a performance engine, it was never installed in a car on the assembly line.

till can't post pictures here on yesterdays trucks. Never said it was a regular production car.

Information and photos were around in the day. Reading from both sides of the opinion I can see polarized views. My personal experience is from a source with hands on in the factory light weight program. He has been gone for a few years now so I won't throw a dead man's name into this story. You may find his personal experiences in his own print on fordfe d o t ***.

For the 65 year model Ford 1965 shop manual did list an M code 8V SOHC. In 1966 manuals M was reassigned as a 410. Before that it was a 390. If you pay attention to M code cars throughout every 60's shop manual publication changes to a limited production engine.

That's why I still have my all numbers matching, Big Block, 4 speed, Formula S Convertible Cuda. It's one of only 64 big block convertibles made in 68. Now, if I just had the money to get the sheet metal work done on it.
