Old truck. is a Ford

The old car behind my tractor is an early 50's 4 door Ford Prefect it used to have a dicky seat where you would now expect to find the trunk or boot.

Prefect, that name rings a bell. I hope there is a 'bonnet' for it. Too bad about the glass. I suppose the spiders enjoy the plush upholtery. The whole front clip reminds me of a Studebaker pickup of the same age. I had an already old 'Vauxhall Victor Velox' while working in New Zealand... the column shifter was pathetic, the rest of the car was surprisingly solid and practical. Some kid is probably still driving it around...

Well, you don't see many of those anymore! Fix that thing up and stick a 2.3 with tranny and rear end out of a late model Ranger pick-up in it and turn some heads.

Ford Prefect, Ford Anglia, Ford Consul and Ford Zephyr were English Ford vehicles, made in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

That model Prefect was producd from 1949 to 1953 and had a 1,172 cc four cylinder side valve engine.

Well I remember the vaccuum windscreen wipers, ported from the intake manifold. Under acceleration and uphill the wipers stopped!

Great little car in their day!

glass isnt a problem, its all straight glass, any glass shop that sells windshields for big trucks can make new glass for this when you get it going, [ they'll need the vehicle to measure the patterns] this is too nice to just let it sit, it needs to be back on the road
