Oliver 1800C engine choices

I have a 1800c with the 283 gas engine that is bad. What other engines, gas or diesel, have the same bellhousing pattern that will bolt into this tractor?

310 out of 1750 or 1755, or rare 1850 wakusha. Most 1850 were perkins.

We put a 1750 motor into Bailey, my oldest son's 1800c. Motor shop did not do valves right it starts hard. And doesn't have good oil pressure.
It's going to be in the hospital again this fall, to get fixed right. Good luck with your project. GG Wes

You can bolt in just about any Oliver/ waukeshaw 6 cylinder engine from a 2 digit fleetline all the way up to a 1955 or a white 2-70 etc. but an engine out of a old 88 would be a little low on power for that size of tractor. I also have a 1800 that gas motor was bad in so I rebuilt a 283 diesel out of a wrecked 1650, had the pump redone and turned up some and it has plenty of power for the 1800 chassis. I am kinda partial to the 283 over the 310. The 283 Diesel was in my opinion one of the best Oliver/ Waukeshaw engines. Now if you could find a front tub from a 1850 Perkins along with an engine the whole shootin match will bolt up to your 1800 back end. Good thing about Olivers they didnt change a lot between models so swapping things around are generally pretty straight forward.
