I'm replacing the injectors in my 1900 with a 4-53 detroit and I'm going up a size to s50's. I have replaced detroit Injectors before. Anybody on here done this before and what results did you get? Is there any thing I should be aware of?
Thanks,Alex.

I used N70's in mine when I overhauled engine and still burns relatively clean when not under load. Puts out some black smoke when pulling hard but not really all that excessive.I am actualy thinking 90's might work o/k as I just use it for the odd tractor pull, and to deliver the occasional load of hay etc.If you are "farming" with it obviosly different story?
I assume if you have changed injectors before you are aware of timing hieght etc. A buddy of mine used to work for detroit and he told me how to build a neat little hieght guage that you put your dial in, set up with a guage block, and you can set your hieght dead on. I had set up with conventional guage and rechecked once I had built the one that used dial indicator and found I was out quite a bit. Snap On make same sort of dial type guage as well, as I noticed it in there catalouge the other day. Whatever you do with it good luck with your 1900 they are great old tractors.
