Oliver 2-44 clutch question

We have a Oliver 2-44 that was split when we got it. the previous owners were putting a clutch in and stopped before putting it back together. Rolled it together yesterday morning and the clutch wouldn't work. It never disengaged. Rolled it back apart and did some measuring. Near as we can tell by measuring the distance between the 2 halves and the distance from the pressure plate and the pilot bearing there is about an inch difference which is not letting the bearing hit the fingers. The old parts are scattered and haven't found the old clutch so we are trying to figure out what the difference is.
Where there 2 different clutches or pressure plates that could go into these? Is there a spacer or something that we are missing? I am going to try to upload pics of it all. Any ideas are greatly appreciated :)

Yes and no there were 2 clutches. First of all you have a ceramic clutch not the normal clutch that was the original clutch. Send me an e-mail with your phone number. J>

Not sure on that one, but on the 1550-1600 etc, there are three large hex nuts that are real thin. They almost look like they're recessed or just welded on. You press the fingers down in a press and turn those nuts. Once they're loose, if you have a good tight fitting wrench, you can turn them without pressing the fingers down.
