Oliver 66 alternator

We like having our 66 start off 12 volts but the Delco
alternator sticks out too far to close the right shroud. Is there
an alternator available that’s small enough to let it close
properly? Thank you

You might try one of those mini Denso 1-wire alternators that run 35 amps.
Here's an example, but be careful how that rear electrical post is positioned as it might be troublesome.

On my 77 I had the generator converted over to 12 volts. It looks original and fits under the side panel just fine.

Go to a salvage yard and get a generator off of an Oliver Diesel. They are all 12 volt.

I second what JS said. I have 12v generators on my 77 and one of my 66s. All the original 6v wiring hooks right up with no modification. It's not just the diesels that were 12, any Oliver built from 57 on was 12.

Get a mini denso alternator, put 4 on in the last year and I wouldn't mess with a generator again over one of those. You can get them real cheap and they fit nicely where the generator went.
