Oliver 70, Serial number question

On Oliver 70 tractors, did they stamp the serial numbers on the frame anywhere? If the engine is missing (with the serial number), anyway to tell the year etc.

Answer to the first question: No not that I am awear of. There were a lot of changes made in the model 70 tractors. Do you have most of the other parts? Perhaps it could be narrowed down a little bit. Also when I worked for the dealer we had this farmer that lived outside of town that had a 70 from the mid 30's who in 1948 purchased a new 70 engine left over after they discontinued the model 70 instead of overhauling his 70 so you can find some of that also.

Was there a casting date code on the bottom of the rear end on those like there was on the later Olivers?
