Oliver 70 value

I have an opportunity to buy an Oliver 70 from a guy that lives down the street. I believe it is a 1945. Its in pretty good shape. The right hand rear engine cover is missing. The rest of the sheet metal is good. Paint is good just dirty. Runs good, no smoke. I am not familiar with Oliver tractors and don"t know what they are worth. He is asking $2500 for it. Can anyone tell me if that is somewhere in the ball park. Thanks

In this area, that's a little high.
Now if it would be a fresh rebuild, I could see his price.
This doesn't have 40" rear tires, does it? They are pricey.

I don't know what size the tires are. I will have to go to his place and find out. I would like to make the guy an offer but I don't want to insult him. Since I originally posted I checked prices all around the country. Looks like $1800 - $2000 would be more in line.

I don't know how things are where you live, but that's still about twice what any 70 is worth around here. I don't know when I've ever seen one with an asking price over $800. Last 2 I saw sell at auction, one on full steel brought $600 and one on rubber brought $450. I gave $250 for the one that I have. We pushed it on the trailer, but when I got it home,I cleaned the carb, put a battery in it,started it and drove it off. I had a chance to buy one a few years ago with an older full restoration and all new rubber for $600.
They're just not a high value tractor, plain and simple.

Missing some tin and shed fresh it sounds like. Running is good. Fair is probably 1500 to 1700. The next thing is what you want to do with it. It will pull a 2 bottom plow and some wagons and maybe rake some hay. I don't see anyone around here using them for anything other than parades which is fine. The 770 and newer tractors have some more value as they can do a few more jobs. Probably no hydraulics on the 70 and just a standard drawbar and PTO. 70s were pretty common tractors in the day and there are a lot out there. I've seen quite a few bring 700 to 1000 running or not.

Good Afternoon - I have a Row Crop 88 priced at 1250.00 and haven't been able to sell it - It has good paint but old paint - not shiny and no fenders.
runs decent- have used it in a couple of tractor pull and pulls good.

Not trying to sell to you but unless its really GOOD it won't bring what he is asking.

Good Luck - Ken 46

Personally, I wouldn't spend more than $1k on it and even that would be a so-so price. They are a pretty worthless tractor since they don't have a live PTO or hydraulics or a 3 pt. If you need it for raking hay or running an auger, they are fine for that. $2500 would buy you a dang fine 88 or even an 880. Then you would have twice the machine.

I have decided to let it go. I don"t have much money to spend. What to get it right the first time. Thanks for all the replies everyone.
