oliver 77 puller

Hey everyone I have seen some old oliver 77 pulling tractors around. What are you guys running for motors ?? How does the driveline hold up ?? I have seen a few that running in several different weight classes so they are obviously making some power. I have searched around online and havent found to much info on them. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Look in the pulling forum, search for 77 puller or oliver, etc... In a month or two when you are done reading feel free to ask if you still have questions. Remember this is a forum so take advice with a grain of salt.

If rules will allow a 310 motor with the updates is the way to go. Otherwise it really depends on how much you would like to spend. What classes are you interested in pulling and how fast?

I agree with Christopher about using a 310ci if your rules will allow it. You can make more power quicker with the gas than the diesel but its what ever your into. Im not putting the diesels down but if your wanting to run open gear with a diesel you would have to turn up the pump, bore it, and turn many rpm"s. With the gas you can get around 120hp fairly easy. I stress that you buy a complete motor and not one thats been taken apart because if this is your first 310ci. it will be a headache trying to hunt down the pieces that the previous person lost, misplaced or just did not give you. (I unfortunately purchased a 310ci gas in the past that had been taken apart and spent all my time hunting stuff down.) Just my 2cents!

I think 45-6500 lb. Depends if I do a 77 or 88 I guess. Would I want to start with a super 77 rather than a regular 77 ?? Or am I better of starting with a 88 or super 88 or 880 ?? I just want to start with the best platform I can. I want something I can build off of for many years. I was thinking a 310 would be the way to go. I was thinking of doing a alcohol 310. When you run one on alcohol I would assume you start with a gas motor ??
