I have an Oliver 80 that I am trying to switch the rear rims & rubber onto another set of rims & rubber. Can't seem to get the rim off of the cast center. I know it has been there over 60 years, and it seems pretty stupid to be asking, but I can't seem to get them apart. All the wedges are off, two port-a-powers applying gentle pressure, boucing a blacksmith hammer on the empty rim, just will not separate. Thinking a gas wrench is next up.

Yep, they can be a bit difficult after all that time.

I might suggest neatly cutting the rim and welding back together later. I actally gave up trying to separate the rims and centres on my Ollie 90.

There may be some here with experience of doing it, but that is likely what I would do, if ever I wanted them off (which is unlikely!)

My wife and son bought this 1939 Oliver 99 for me for Christmas a few years back. Got it home. Started to remove the rear rims and found that they had rust welded to the cast centers. Tried using a large steel bar and another large tractor to remove the rims...the bar just bent. Finally just split the rim with a torch to get it off. My biggest mistake was buying a new 18.4x28 tire which I may never use. The tire is now in storage and I am working to restore the 99. Will use 30" tires instead. ---Derrol in Texas---
