Oliver 88 help

A friend is building a 1949 88. I looked at it and theres a clean 3 3/4 bore in it. What to look for to lighten it up and get more power cheaply. also need tires 13.6,14.9, or 15.5 ?? sugestions?? how heavy is a single front set up compared to a light weight hub set up ?

call korves 3.875 high top pistons & bigger valves makes a good puller if it is in 4500# or 5500# 3 mph class. but build big is best

For tires my first choice would be 14.9s, 2nd would be 15.5s. If you can find a complete narrow front off of a 66/super 66 it will bolt right up to the tub of your 88 and it will be around 200 lbs lighter. Is this a gas? If so a complete intake/exhaust/carb setup from a 1650/55 will bolt right on. Also run the 3 7/8s pistons from Korves as mentioned, and send the cam to Berry Cam in Lester Prairie, MN and they can grind it to match the mods you have done.
