Oliver 88 stroker motor

NODER

New User
I recently purchased an 88 Oliver at an estate sale. The estate provided me with a box of information but no one knew any additional information about the tractor. I have a couple of questions if anyone could help me.
1. It says to use mineral oil for the coolant. Does anyone know why you would use mineral oil and would it be 100% or a combination of water and mineral oil and what would the ratio be?
2. It says it is a 425 cubic inch motor. Does anyone know what combination of piston and stroke they would use to achieve this?
Any help would be appreciated.
THANKS

NODER, my guess is that they say to use mineral oil for coolant is because the sleeves/block probable leaks a little coolant into the oil pan, a little mineral oil would do no damage to the bottom end, were as water/ antifreeze would be bad. in that case you would use 100% mineral oil. good luck with your new toy, chuck

425 ci. = 5" stroke and 4.250 bore. probably not too much grinding in the block to make it swing. Depending on cam and condition of the engine, it could have between 100 and 125 hp, "maybe".

Don't know about the displacement, but it was common to add "water soluable oil" to the cooling system before permanent antifreeze was common. Thats what it says to do in my 60 manual.
