Oliver 88 tune-up

Gents,

If an Oliver 88 needs a tune up (ignition tune and carb rebuild), what do you suggest?

Ignition - I put Pertronix electronic ignition in my '69 Land Rover and had really good results. The make a unit for the Delco distributers so it's a quick bolt in option (both 6V +ve and 12V -ve).

Carb - rebuild or new? Stick with OEM or go for aftermarket?

The tractor will be a working tractor for towing hay rake, running PTO auger and PTO mower. A working rebuild project.

I just do a tune up and go through the carb, but it's your tractor, do what ever you think should be done.

I put a Pertronix unit in my 88. Haven"t had to
touch it in 8 years.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. I loved the one in my Land Rover, but each application is different.

What coil did you use? What plug gap are you using?
