I have a Oliver 88 and wanting to get 200 horsepower out of it. There is a farmall around here that is getting 200 out of it and I would like to compete with that. Does anyone have any ideas on how or if I can compete?

How big is your wallet? Lots of things to do, but they all come with a cost. Also, depends on what type of rules you have.

88 Blocks are weak when you get a huge bore in them. Best bet is a 7 main block bored and stroked to the nuts. IF you can run it. You have alot of options. 12 port heads and so on. There was once a tractor here for sale in MI with very few hooks on it and SHOWROOM quality. Deisel head converted and alot of power. BUT big money 25-30 grand I believe

Well my pocket book isn't that big I guess I won't turn it into a pulling tractor and jus leave it to playing and shows. Thank you any way guys

Go to a few big pulls hang around the winning Ollies, I saw last pull I went to every thing to do it for around 4500 to 5500 I can't remember, but a rod was bent and a piston was cracked, I think, but a really good start. A new Gator is 12000 its just money.

There are places to pull a STOCK tractor. You don't need 200 HP to come out, make a few hooks, have a few drinks, and have fun. Just make sure you go for the fun. A stock tractor won't win much.

Remember, if HP was cheap, everybody would have it.

It will take ALOT of money and knowledge to get that much hp, and if you have to pay for the knowledge, the cost will be considerably more. Just to emphasize what north puller said, there are some "stock" classes out there. You can have alot of fun out there in those classes if you want. Just concentrate on the setup and you can do better than you think!

It has a solid posi in it. Which it was like that when I bought it from a pulling guy. But he said that's all that has been done and the motor is completely stock.
