Oliver pulling engine build

J88puller

New User
Has anyone ever tried stroking a 265block using the stock rods and small block chevy pistons 4 inchers. I know theres a difference in the piston pin locations and was wondering how much I could stroke it with those pistons. Looking for a set up to run 5mph in 5500 pound class. My 283 dies in 2nd gear want something stong in 2nd maybe even 3rd gear. Also is there any advantage going to a oil fed rod set up vs the splash. Looking for a cheaper set up not no 541cid! Thanks

Are family has a super 88 and pull 4500 up to 7500 and pull 3rd gear in the 5500 class this tractor has m&w kit and is stock other wise. Has 16.9 38 rubber. It does have the slow rear in. You may want to check what rear ratio you have might be cheaper then building another engine.

You might want to find a set of 77 rods (2" crank pin). I have used these to get strokes of ~5.00" with weld up and offset grinding. I think (IIRC) that using these alone with just offset grind can get you 4.375" stroke.

I don't really have any information on the SB Chevy pistons, though. There are a lot of knowledgeable Oliver builders on here, who I am sure would be willing to help with additional information...
