Oliver S88 water pump problem

So I fired up the S88 to get it ready for baling hay. Had a couple of younger guys around when I did and one noticed coolant coming off the fan belt. Got to looking and the water pump is leaking. I have hay down and need to get it baled today so plan on trying to do it even with the leak. How likely will it be that I can use it for say and hour maybe 1.5 hours to do this. I plan to fill the radiator to the top and since the system isn't pressurized running with the cap off or on will not matter. I have a new pump on order form this site but it will be either late this week or next week before it get to me.

Just watch the temp. Using water instead of Antifreeze will be OK for the single use. Much depends on how bad the leak is, was, will be. Jim
Temp gauge doesn't work so all I can go by is if it starts to blow steam and if it does that I'll shut it down and let it cool. The weather guessers say I have today and tomorrow before we have rain so it may take a couple tries to get it all done but it is only maybe 1 or 2 acres of hay that I have down

Very likely, go for it, get that hay baled. Grab the water pump pulley, how loose? If not, take a milk jug of water with you, and check the level ever wagon load of bales. You will be OK.

I do big rounds. I will carry extra water with me just in case and most of the time I drive up to the barn to drop the bale but don't think I will do it that way today due to the pump problem. I'll just put the bale spike on the IH584 instead of the Ford 841S

The leak is one thing, if it leads to catastrophic bearing failure, that's another.

I baled 2 big bales and parked it in the shade. I had to stop out in the field one time and I checked coolant level and it was still good. I'll gp back out and finish up the last of the hay after I cool down.
