Oliver Super 55 hydraulics

I have a 1955 Super 55 that has weak hydraulics on the three point. I was hoping I could get some help troubleshooting the problem. I think it is just a worn pump but was hoping I could get some suggestions for tests that would confirm this. I did take the pump apart and look at the bore that the vanes move through. You can feel where the metal is worn where the vanes would ride. Something else I have noticed is that the problem gets worse when the oil warms up and the pump is noisy. I have changed the oil and filter adding 10w30 oil. the Hydraulic housing is the early style with the filter under the left side of the seat. if that helps. It seems like the hydraulics bleed down a lot too when under load. The pump runs continuously to keep the hitch up. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Do you have external hydraulics on this Super 55? The noisy pump means you are getting air in the hydraulic system I believe. The reason I ask if you have externals is that you have to raise the level of the fluid. There is a field kit for that. Not sure how you can find one. If there is wear on the plate where the vanes ride, that means it needs to be attended to. Check out the link below.
Super 55 pump rebuild

I just put a pump in my 550. got it from all states ag parts. it cost 886. the only rebuild kit I found was 500, so I went with new pump. however after installation I had nothing. took pump out and found it was pumping the wrong way.(thanks to help from maibachs) we inverted the center section and it worked on the bench so we re-installed it. we had a cordless drill hooked to the front of pump to test it. with a small funnel full of oil, it was easy to tell which way it was pumping. the new pump was rated at 1700 lb but tested at 2100 lb when tractor warmed up. it lifts great and the external remote has lifted anything we hooked to it so far. we did have to do some clearance work with an end-grinder to get it to fit in the tranny cover. email you phone if your need further assistance.

That must have been a pain to figure out. The more it think about it the more I am sure I need a new pump.
