Omni Question and HVLP Setting

The Omni data sheet sheet says 4.1.2 for mix ratio. My supplier said to use 4.1.1. I managed to shoot some red without
too many issues, but I have major orange peel issues with the grey. I am guessing the mix ratio is the problem. Should 4.1.2 be used.

the paint is single stage 2.8, MTX. My gun is an Iwata kiami 4, 1.3 tip, 22 psi 1 full turn in on both fluid and fan. Perhaps a pressure change to 26 or so could help?

I use Omni on my tractors. 8 parts paint 1 part hardener and I thin by eye to what looks like water thickness. I use a Devilbiss HVLP at 28lbs. For painting from the bottom up I use a suction gun. I've had real good luck with that.

I"ve used Omni for about 4 years. I use the primer, then the sealer, then the paint. I have always stuck with the data sheet mixing ratios, except that I have found that when mixing the paint I actually use more thinner, not less, and I also use about 30 psi pressure. I probably lose more in overspray that I should, but I have had no problems with finish quality. Also, on the Omni, be extra sure to use a water filter in line. Only thing I would remind you about is that if you use a wax/oil solvent as a final cleaner prior to prime, be sure it is all dry and evaporated off. Good Luck, Larry.
