Onan CCK CCKA CCKB engine specs

hello. I acquired a simplicity 4041 large frame garden tractor. I bought it with no engine. I am putting in a 18 hp Briggs vanguard v-twin. I need to know the crankshaft height of the origional engine. I cannot find a mechanical drawing of the onan CCK CCKA CCKB online. Need to fabricate a riser bracket to align the engine and want to be pretty particular on my measurements. Thanks guys. This tractor has been sitting in the bushes for 30 years. Very excited to get it going as I worked as a mechanic at a simplicity dealership when I was a younger man.

I think Onan made those engines with a variety of crankcases, to be SURE of the crankshaft height dimension you would need the "specs" for the exact engine it was built with.

I ASSUME this a "shaft drive" tractor? What sort of couplings or joints are in the driveshaft?

I am working with a couple of John Deere LGT's that previously had Briggs conversion kits installed, sourced from one of the big on-line suppliers, they didn't worry too much about crankshaft height, and depended upon the U-joints in the driveshaft and a longer deck drive belt to make up the difference.

On the other hand, I am making the mounts to install a V-twin Briggs in a John Deere "300".

I propped up the frame to make it perfectly level from front to back.

Then, I stuck a magnetic level to the driveshaft and set it to be "level", then used that to locate the crankshaft height.

There's a link on the Smokestack forums website with a huge pile of Onan engine and genny drawings, manuals, parts lists, etc. Unfortunately I can't seem to get on their site today - looks like they're changing servers. Try again in a few days. Some of the guys over there are proper Onan experts.

Suggest search simplicity 4041. I see a number of repower kit adds and You tube video by ISaveTractors that has much info on original unit. It appears the hydrostat was powered from the engine flywheel side and front pto clutch from the crankshaft end, interesting?
If powered from flywheel side rotation of drive input would be opposite of power from shaft end.

To reply to wore outs post, the engine crankshaft is mounted perpendicular with the frame rails. The keyed crank shaft heads out front to an electric pto clutch to drive the mower deck belt. The flywheel side has at cast iron two groove pulley that runs two small belts to engage the hydrostat when you let the clutch pedal out. However, the cast iron two groove pulley also connects directly to a shaft that heads to the rear of the tractor to power the rear pto. The shaft is coupled at the pulley via a thin fiber flex disk. There is an Alice Chalmers version of my tractor for sale at the local tractor show this weekend. Think I may head there with my tape measure handy and snag a couple measurements.
