onan cckb

hello all--i need to adjust the max rpm on this onan cckb twin cyl. I have a rpm meter for 4,6,& 8 cyl. can I make this work? thinking about it, it seems like 4 cyl. scale cut in half would normally work, but the onan fires on exh. stroke too, so its got me confused-anyone ever tried this? thanks

Use the 4 cyl. setting, the reading you get on the meter will be one-half the engines RPM on a flat twin engine like the Onan CCKB. I use the same setting to set the governor on a Kohler KT-17. If i want a max. RPM of 3600 you set the governor so the meter reads 1800. I use the same 4 cyl. setting when setting the governor on Kohler K-series engine but you look for a meter reading of 900 for 3600 RPM engine speed. On the K-series engine I use the LOW RPM range.

Thanks Kentb-- set max rpm @ 1800 rpm on 4 cyl. scale of tach-dwell unit.worked well--tried earlier, but think i had loose contact @ coil pickup & readings had me spooked---paul
