One great big tractor

Our community center/ag office is hosting a tractor and equipment show and of course most of it is super sized stuff. They had a Fendt tractor there that was the biggest tractor I have ever stood next to. It had narrow duals on the rear and a huge weight block on the front of the tractor, It dwarfed the JD tractors they had. The top of the ladder was about 6 feet to the floor and the cab looked like it had about 50 percent more room than a 100 HP Kabota.

I hear what you're saying. I don't even go to farm shows anymore. I don't even know what I'm looking at. Tractors bigger than my barn, sprayers bigger than a football field.

I'm not saying its wrong. I just have no interest looking at it. And I farmed all my life.

Yes Big Bud 747. Pretty incredible. I have been up front and personal with it. I also have friends in Havre MT that created it in the waining days of the Production there. The company lives on in Havre and Cedar town Gorga. Jim

I have seen videos and stories on Big Bud, this was the biggest tractor that I had ever seen upclose and personal.

I have seen one of those at a nearby dealer, they may have had one outside, there were about six machines on display outside.

I've stood on the platform of a Big Bud (they didn't let the public inside the cab) at either a Farm Progress Show or World Plowing Match.
Absolutely impressive.

When I looked at one of those, I could not get over how far off the ground the drawbar is. It was a "small" model, only around 250HP as I recall, but it was so tall that it wouldn't work with any of our equipment.

Just part of the 'evolution' of equipment. We have a couple pieces of equipment that my 150 horsepower tractors can pull but tongue weight is too much for their drawbars to support. After one incident of a broken drawbar, I'm a bit cautious.

Yes but the big buds I knew about had hill sniffers in them so no lugging on a hill or in a tough spot hope it would make it through or shift down. The Stieger would just pull on through with the Cat engine in it. We use a 325 Panther on a 30 ft Sunflower disc and just roll along at less thean fulll throttle like it was playing with it. The Cougar with 310 does the same thing with thew same disc. We even pull it with the 7140 but a bit slower than the Stiegers will pull it. I guess if you like those old double breasted Yamahas they would be fine.

If you have never been in the cab of a Fendt, you owe it to yourself to take a ride in one. You would think you were in the cockpit of a jet. These are an amazing tractor. Computer screens, joystick controls CVT transmission, a passenger seat, a refrigerator. Put a big manure tank behind one. grossing close to 100,000 Lbs and just enjoy the ride. One of the most interesting couple of hours I ever spent.

Hmmm, I guess it's like being impressed by an NFL offensive lineman that weighs over 400 pounds. Well at least the tractor feels some dirt. Some football players of that size never lay their hands on the object of play (the ball) during play action in their whole careers .....

I see some have been moved all around the country, that must be expensive. I thought maybe by rail, but I see the normal width limit for rail freight is 10 feet.

Once all that 'high tech' stuff begins to fail, the value of the outfit goes to

Local manure hauler has a fleet of Fendt's and tankers. Keeps getting bigger silage carts every year. I hate to say it but one day somebody is gonna get killed pulling that kinda weight on a tractor. Plus nobody wants his trade ins as they have lots of road hours and just hard drawbar work nonstop.

Only about 10% of Big Bud tractors had Detroits from the factory. Most had Cat or Cummins and a few had Komatsu.
