A little late I know, hope everone had a safe and happy new year.

Our plan of attack is the easy stuff first-grin.
Zane's tip of a sticky control valve...maybe sloppy linkage, causing a bind?If the cover is to be removed, we can check the follwer pin.
BillyBuck's tip of an exhaust valve on the pump and crud. Im thinking this would require the pump to be dropped or can it be flushed w/diesel still installed?
FWIW...it still amazes me the amount of info in the archives.
