That is a great saw. Purchased one in school shop when they first became available. It was a sweet saw. Kind of wish i had been able to bring it home with me.

Now there is one like a skill saw. They dont use there plazma cutter as much after purchasing that new saw.

I see price ranges all over the place. What is the difference between the blue blade and the orange one? I would like to have one but need more info before buying one.

That looks exactly like the one I bought about a dozen years ago. I have abrasive cut off blades on mine because I didn't spring for the more expensive blade, but it has always worked well for me, even though I don't use it very much.

I have the same saw and blade. It cuts great, and is accurate. I bought it to cut 2x3 steel box tubing to build a flatbed for Willys pickup.

SON bought His Evolution RAGE 2 about 10 years ago when Menards first started selling them, blade & saw $199.95 plus tax, He used it on his first project and called me about how much time it saved him. Dad gave me his Dewalt 14 abrasive saw, I've plugged it in but have NEVER turned it on, throws too many sparks!
I bought my RAGE 2 a couple days after SON got his. I haven't used it a lot but enough to say it beats any abrasive saw and my cheap Chinese 4x 6 bandsaw, I bought it at a household auction for $100, think it was an Enco, it NEVER EVER even came close to making square cuts, was one of the pivot points for the arm of the saw off location by over 1/8th of an inch, I'd shim it with drill bits and still couldn't come close to a 90 degree cut. THIS EVOLUTION cuts exactly 90 degrees, any grade steel, aluminum, copper, brass, any metal. Even wood and plastic, just like cutting with my DELTA MITER saw except metal.
I always recommend a full face shield, plus safety glasses, and ear phones, and NOT BECAUSE OF THE NOISE, DID YOU HEAR ME. THE sharp pointy steel slivers flying around WILL LAND IN YOUR EARS, and removing them can be harmful, so wear headphones to keep them out.
The carbide blade makes a smooth clean burr-free weld ready cut that you can accurately adjust the angle of to create any angle you want or need. You have NO idea how much time this Evolution saw has saved me over my out of wack bandsaw!
And yes, they make a hand-held portable steel cutting powers away too, think it's 14 like the RAGE 2. They have a great website. Evolution is a BRITISH company, and yes the stuff is made in China but to Evolution's strick quality standards.
Their US headquarters is in Davenport, Iowa, at Northwest Blvd & Interstate 80, by the truck stops, you can see their building just east of the Pilot truck stop from I-80.
Great tools! DON'T bash them unless you've run one.

They sell a heck of a good mag drill too. You have to know what you need and want, but they run about a grand cheaper than a big brand name.

Orange is multi-material - wood, ferrous metal, etc
Blue is metal only - ferrous and mild steel
Green is metal only - aluminum and non-ferrous
Black is wood only
Yellow is stainless steel only

I really like mine and don't miss the sparks of an abrasive wheel.
