One way hydraulics

I changed the1550 over to one way :and hooked it up to the livestock hauler. Tried to raise it to take the cylinder locks off the cylinders but it wouldn't raise. Then I changed the right side to one way and tried it, same thing. What the?? Unhooked the hose and put it in the other coupler and it worked like it should. I didn't realize they would only work on one side, just thought the lever would be opposite of normal. Guess I'm not too old to learn something. I've used it on the 1850 for the last few years with no issues, must have gotten lucky hooking it up.

Don't know if it helps(I can upload a pic of the relevant page in my manual), but the 1850 can run a single acting cylinder on the right side remote. There is a bypass valve (looks like a bolt) at the bottom of the hydraulic housing that turns out to allow it to work the cylinder. There's also an interlock/bleed screw(if I got that right) on the opposite side of the housing that needs to be turned out.

Not sure if your hydraulic unit is the same as mine, but I'd imagine maybe they're similar?

By "right side remote", I mean the right PAIR of connectors. You still need to hook your single line to the coupler that serves the base of the cylinder, not the rod end. The coupler that supplies pressure when you pull the valve lever to the rear of the tractor. Leastways, that's how I'm running them.

Yes, the 1550 is set up the same as the 1850. I might be wrong, but I think when I had the 1850 on it if I hooked to the wrong coupler, the lever worked backwards but raised and lower OK and I just switched couplers. 1550 manual say if only using a one way cylinder you can use either side but to run a two way and a one way the one way has to be hooked to the right/ outside lever

BASE and ROD ports are opposite on each side. Single acting cylinders must use the BASE.

Been on the road today, so didn't get time to put something up.

This is the puppy you turn counterclockwise before you hook up a single acting cylinder. I generally leave mine about 2-3 turns loosened, and don't mess with the lock nut. I run a single acting cylinder, and a double acting cylinder, when I run the Hydra Swing center pivot MOCO. So, I hook the single acting cylinder to the right side remotes. Tighten it when you're done running the single acting cylinder, and ready to use a double acting cylinder.

Being as it's simple...............I do the same when not running a single acting cylinder in tandem. Just a single acting cylinder by itself. Keeps it simple, and not much to remember.

"Base" is subject to interpretation. I'm getting ready to run the Krone mower. It lifts from pressure applied to the rod side of the cylinder..............so I hook the "base" side of the remote to the line. Either way...........it's the line that pressurizes when you pull the lever rearward.....depending on how you've plumbed your remotes.

I'm thinking you've probably done the same.
