one wire alternator ground

ightly bolted to engine takes care of it about 99% of time, but you can always run a wire from alt case to engine.......don't bolt to painted surfaces.

Generally the mounting bolts accomplish this. If not, there is usually a short bolt on the case that will accept a ground wire.

it seems this would cause no movement on the ammeter if not grounded properly wouldn't it?

I am a firm believer in running a dedicated ground wire to a alternator... Is it a over kill YES but it does make me feel warm and fuzzy

Vidaliaman,Looking at the picture in your previous post.The long wire with the diode that is attached to your alternator should be hooked to your ignition switch (hot side with the key on).Then you will need a #12 or #10 gauge positive wire from the big post on the alternator to the amp gauge post for it to charge.Other post of the amp gauge go to battery positive on your solenoid or positive cable.

.....assuming that he does NOT have a One-Wire alternator, which he said that he did have.
