Bought a 44 JD A in 68 when I started farming. Needed it to pull the manure spreader twice a day after cleaning gutters in the milking barn. Hand crank, on the coldest days I couldn't get it started. Dad let me take his B which would start and belt it to the A. The B wouldn't pull the spreader thru the snow but the A would. Bought the A from a JD dealer 80 miles away for $75. Wouldn't mind having a 44 A again just for that reason.

They just keep appearing don’t they?? Wonderful tractor one of my favorites you have power lift it would appear if you got to playing around with it the power trols do fit…have fun!!! it’s nice when a running one appears sometimes to remind at least me that they can be incredibly useful once a long restoration or repair is done and that the work is more than worth it.

Ron, our local 2 cylinder club is having a tractor drive the 8th of June and he was feeling the pressure of not having a tractor to drive. A neighbor of his had this A at a reasonable price so now he can participate. I keep bugging him about the B also. Tom in Mn.
Well I was wanting an A and I used that as in excuse to justify the purchase of said A.

Ron, I was just working on main bearing adjustment the other day. Mostly waiting for an opportunity to finish painting. Gonna try and get the pistons and head installed sometime in the next week or two
