original 1568

I have a question on a 1568. I purchased one with 3200hrs. I think maybe still on original rear tires.. The only problems is the tourqe is out and the seat leaks.I was going to fix the promblems and sell it.. But I was told to leave it original with the tourqe out. Would you as a buyer rather have the tractor completely original or have the tourqe fixed.. all feedback is welcome

Well, they didn't come from the factory original with torque not working and a leaking seat, although it may have leaked shortly and TA acting up not too far down the road. Speaking of TA's. I found we were having a whole lot more TA problems later in the 66 series tractors. It seems the specifications on their parts were getting out of hand. I measured several gears the sprag fits in and found them just a few thousands oversized. I made some comparisons to low hour failures and higher hour failures and to me it appeared that IH was not keeping them in line. IH went to their so called fail safe (or what ever they called it policy) at Farmall works and after that I think we had more problems than ever. Performace promise came later also and that was a joke. That was back in the days when we repaired the TA's and not just replaced them.
 
A tractor of that horsepower with 3200 hours may well of had the TA replaced a time or two already. I once had an IH rep tell me that any failure over 700 hours was just normal wear. Probably IHs way of avoiding any responsibility for the failure. Is sure left the door open for the after market rebuilders to come up with better products.
