"Original Patina"

I have an 1952 8N that is all original except for the 12 volt conversion. I would like to repaint it if I don't sell it soon. What was the original color of this tractor? The old paint looks gray now

They were originally red and gray as your photo shows.

Engine serial number may indicate 1952 but it doesn't have a Proof Meter and air cleaner oil cup point to an earlier model 8N.

I like that original patina. I'd be tempted to knock the chunks off and spray it with some satin clear. Give it that popular "rat rod" look.

I stand connected Bill, the original owner said it was a 1952 but when I looked up the serial number it said 1950 so I corrected him about that and all I got was a deer in the headlight look. Yep no proofmeter

The engine block/pan have different "platina" than the pan also. Common to have the engines replaced at some time.

Standing here looking at it, the block and pan are a perfect match. Shadows in my pics make it look like a mismatch

i was thinking the cutout in the right dogleg could have been for a front mount 12 volt conversion alternator. any other ideas about what it could have been for?
