Orscheln Supply

I just saw where Tractor Supply has purchased the 167 stores of Orscheln Supply for 297 million all cash. Tractor Supply has over 1,900 stores. We have had an Orscheln store here in town for as long as I can remember. The Tractor Supply store is about 2 years old. Shopping both places, Tractor Supply seems to me to be a little on the high side with pricing. Also it is 1/2 the size of the Orscheln store. This will get to be interesting as it goes along.

I hope they keep Orscheln's as it is and make it so they both stay the same. Each has there good and bad parts to them. Been an Orscheln's in Eldon MO ever since I have been in the area. They put one in town a few years back. They also now have a TSC in Lebanon MO some 25 miles or so away

I was in TSC a couple of weeks ago and ask about ammo. They said they do not carry ammo. Local Orschelns do. Wonder how that will work out.

I hope TSC doesn't mess up my orscheln store. I'm not a big fan of the Majic brand implement paint TSC sells. I buy a lot of paint for toy projects at Orscheln's store.

There is a new store opening in Kansas just 35 miles from me. It's call Bomgaars. Looks like they sell just about everything.

Just had a thought. Kearney Ne has both a TSC and an Orscheln's. They are on the same street just about a block a part. I wonder if one will now get the axe?

TSC stores in Ontario are being renamed "Peavey". I'm thinking these are separate stores from US stores

e have a Bomgaars near us,I can usually get everything I need at that store. What they have been doing, if there is an old Walmart store, available either they lease it or buy it and move in.

Even in those stores that "carry" ammunition, the shelves are bare around here in NE IA

If it's anything like around here, the existence of a nearby Tractor Supply will not deter them from putting up another store.

There are three Tractor Supply stores within 10 miles of me, 8 within 30 miles, and 20 within 50 miles.

On the same topic we had a Big R store than they went to Stock & Field now they are going out of business. There is TSC store fairly close.

It's the same in SW Iowa.

I was in our local Bomgaars recently, and while standing in front of the empty ammunition shelves, I asked an employee how often they get ammunition delivered to their store.

He just laughed and walked away...

Tractorguy2, you'll like Bomgaars. We have several within 40 miles of us in Iowa. They run sales every week and appreciation days in the spring and fall. Similar to the other farm supply stores.

TSC in Canada has always been a separate company from the US version, along the same lines as Sears and Sears Canada were totally different companies. Peavey Mart bought TSC Canada a few years ago and are just getting around to changing the store signs and mail flyers now.

Here in Northern Iowa and southern Minnesota Bomgaar's picked up a few former ShopKo stores as well.

The Bomgaar's we have in the next town over is in the old Wal-Mart building.
