You guys have helped me so much with my tractor, thought I'd try my luck. My F-250s battery has been going dead periodically. I go to start it and it is totally dead, will put in on the charger and it will start and be fine for maybe a week or so, then be totally dead. Anybody had this problem or know what might be causing a drain or how to check for it? Thanks in advance!

i would pull the alternator and have it checked first, just to rule that out(autozone will check it for free) hey pull the batt out nd have it checked as well. then what kind of radio (yes radio)(is it aftermarket?) if so who put it in?
go from there? dell could be a lot more help then I

If your batt. and/or alt is marginal, the small but steady drain can pull it down to a point where it will not keep up.Like Chrisinosky said check those,as a batt.can read 12v,and still not start the motor.---lha

My 90 f150 has a drain just like yours. I put a swan switch on the battery and if im not driving it for a few days unhook the battery. You can test to see where the short is by unhooking the neg battery cable, place a tester light in between the battery and cable, if it lights theres a short. And pull the fuse for each circuit in the fuse box and replace each one untill the light goes out( need a buddy to hold the tester and watch the light). Then you will know which circuit is bad. then run that circuit with your test light till you find the short. Or do like me and just keep unhooking the battery.
