OT Chainsaw damage

Bought a remanufactured chainsaw at a outlet store(to save a buck)mixed up fuel at 50 to 1 ratio per manual. Would not start, or run. Thought it"s under warrent so took to store. They tell me the cylinder is scored. Prime bulb has pure gas, how can that be ? Since oil & gas was mixed ? Thinking back, put oil in gas can, added gas & gave it a few shakes, could I have scored the cylinder ? with out the swaw even running ?? Am I that dumb ?

ohfool,U said Am I that dumb ? I DON'T THINK SO.A remanufactured chainsaw ?I DON'T THINK SO
Prime bulb has pure gas, how can that be ?It was never worked on or rebuilt since the last guy ran straight Gasoline in it and scored the piston.I don't know what kind of recorce you you have.

I even doubt that such a small amount of unmixed gas would have caused scoring to begin with. I've seen saws abused much worse than that and still give years of reliable service.

I'm assuming they won't let you return it?
If not did you pay cash or Credit Card?
If Credit Card, Call your CC company and file a dispute.
You have to fill out some paperwork, and they handle the rest.
Sounds like they didn't do anthing to the saw between you and the previous owner...

It's possible it was simply 'returned' after being run with straight gas in it.

Many of those primer bulbs recirculate the gas.. so if it had oil in the gas.. it should have recirculated and mixed...

i think I'd call my CC company if it was a CC purchase.

Isn't it great when, given the chance, a company actually comes through and does the right thing? Example: just a bit over a year ago my bride and I bought some repro versions of the old colored metal "tulip" chairs like my granny had in her backyard. The frame work was suppose to be powder coated. About eight months after we got them we started seeing rust in the frame/legs. I thought I would just sand it down and paint with rustoleum. But when I took them apart I could see that all four chairs were rusted through. This was in less than a year of service with them sitting on a stone patio.
I email the manufacturer AND the retail store where we ordered them
I sent the email on Friday night. On Saturday morning I had a reply from the owner of the company himself, apologizing and saying he will send out new frames for all the chairs. Monday midday UPS pulls up and delivers the chair frames! Absolutely amazing customer service.
But you have to [i:4d80455bfa]courteously[/i:4d80455bfa] but firmly present your legitmate case and give them a chance to do the right thing.
I spent over two decades in customer service. Believe me, it works.[/i]

The brand was Homelite, my Dad had one, couple of decades old, was all cast & steel, the one I have now is nice soft & pretty plastic.
