OT-Ebay selling question

I sell a few old tractors on ebay,but don't like the buyer protection charge back feature.I don't like that ebay can refund my money to a buyer without my permission.I've never had a problem,but I've heard of scammers buying an item,complaining and getting a refund and the sellers are stuck.Is there a way to pay fees by check,or have a low dollar credit card for ebay use?

My experience has been as long as you get your item back, eBay
will force you to refund the money. Even if your item comes back
in pieces and the buyer admits it was not broken when they got it.
Yep, true story, and the parts they broke aren't replaceable so
the whole item was then junk.
Ok place to buy stuff now days, but I've about given up selling.
I only list obscure stuff where there's not much of a local market.

I've been selling on ebay for over 10 years. If the deal falls thru and you refund their money and both agree to cancel the transaction you don't have to pay a seller fee. Ebay will credit your account the amount of your fee. Yes you can pay your fees by check or money order or you use to be able to. But now they want a credit card when you register to sell.

I don't want to refund anyones money on a tractor they bought as is, looked at, drove and then took home,then decided they didn't want after it's 500
miles away.

I gave up selling on ebay because of all those fees, but one thing I had considered to avoid being scammed by that buyer protection thing would have been to set up a second bank account with a minimum balance. Have this account connected to ebay so the payments would go into it, and then immediately transfer those payments into your main bank account that is not accessible by anyone but you.

Rusty, that works as long as you don't want to use eBay anymore.
They freeze your account.
You can't buy or sell until they get their money.
At least that's what they did with my PayPal account when I took
the funds out. I had to put the money back in to be able to do anything.

That is why you need one ebay account for selling, and a second account for buying. All you need to do so is a second email address.

selling complete tractors. I would use bigiron.com or purplewave and not ebay.

In the old days. you bought an item off ebay. it was yours.If it came broken it was still yours. Your only recourse was insurance. Now, All the buyer has to do is claim the item was damage in the mail or the box was emtpy and they get a refund.I still insure anything over $50. Not sure it would help me if a buyer complained.

They also change your settings . I had UNPAID ITEM CLAIM for 8 days . It never kicked in on a deadbeat buyer[ who as my wife told me, I am an idiot,I shipped to already]. Go back to seller dashboard and Unpaid item claim set for 30 days .I never changed it. Then they automatically signed me onto Global Shipping Program. Now I can't invoice a guy in Canada until he pays shipping first. It is becoming more of a pain that it is worth. It was fun as a hobby now it is stressful.

I hear you. That's why I quit selling on ebay. I only visit now when I'm looking for bargains.

I have read quite a few horror stories on other message boards that in many cases the supposedly disgruntled buyer was allowed to [b:b1c8064975]keep[/b:b1c8064975] the merchandise and [b:b1c8064975]still[/b:b1c8064975] get his money refunded by Ripoffpal.

I have been preaching about Fleabay and Ripoffpal for several years, and usually get put down by the "true believers".

I used to buy a lot of small items on Fleabay, but since they required sellers to use Ripoffpal, I haven't been back. One ripoff was enough to cure me.
