ot: ground beef prices?

Just wondering what some of you all are charging for ground beef. From 20 month old beef. probably 90% lean. I am telling people $3 a pound. Last year or two we always sold at $2.50 pound, but with processing and we pretty much were selling a little profit. Few people said "kinda high arent you" I replied check the grocery stores or higher yet, check the meat lockers. So, where are some of you at?

Any "hamburger" at the stores here is over 3 dollars, unless some really big special . I would be glad to give you $3.50 for farm beef. Even chicken is 3 dollars now.

its 2.99 at meijer's. i am happy with that,i expected it to go nuts under the circumstances.
i think $4 for good farm fresh is not unreasonable. if anybody complains tell'em to jump in the lake.

Hey Cold Beer, where ya from? I live in Mt Pleasant. IGA, huh, gotta be in Rosebush or Clare. Can't remember if the one in Shepherd is still there or not.

Cash Wise Foods has 93% lean (ground round) for $3.88/lb in 10 lb chubs, 80% lean hamburger on sale for $2.99/lb in 3 lb chubs, and 73% lean (ground beef) on sale for $2.38/lb in 5 lb chubs. I don't care for 80% lean, never tried the 73% lean.

We sell our beef by the cut.....burger is $4.50 a pound. Beef is 1.25 to 1.30 hoof weight....figure your processing costs.....if you intend to PROFIT.....you will be about the same....

I don't sell by the cut. Too much red tape to jump through. I sell intrest in a steer to folks while the steer is on my trailer in the slaughter house parking lot. I sell wholes or halves. I have sold 1/4s before but I charge more due to have'n more people to keep up with chase'n down money from.
