Anybody ever used Break Free penetrating/lubricating oil(aerosol)? Used some on my neighbors mower spindle/deck pulley nut--had hammered it pretty good with my electric impact using WD and had no luck--sprayed the Break Free-let it sit just few minutes and the nut came off..I think it was ready and was going to come off anyway but maybe the Break Free is that much better..

Any time I use a penetrant on a fastener I check the threads after I get them apart. Often, they are still dry and rusty because the stuff didn't penetrate. I have found that you have to wait a day or two for penetrant to acutually work its way into the threads.

I've tried em all and only one appeared to be noticeably better..Not sure of name, maybe CR2 or something similar----PB I was not impressed but some folks swear by it or to it....I'm going to start using ATF--got some here for Ford product and Fords are not allowed to park in my stable--may as well use it and I understand it works good as anything..

i'm guessing diesel and atf would have worked better thn the wd.

wd is for blowing water off dizzy's and removing stickers.. :)

The WD in that WD45 stands for water displacement and the 45 is the number of formulas it took to get it to be as they company that made it wanted it to work. It is not made for what you where using it for. ATF would have worked fast and a whole lot better

Try "Deep Creep" it seems to work within a few minutes, best I found. NAPA carries the product.

Uses a lot of Break Free CLP.....by the gallon. They started issuing it in the 80's in the Army for weapons cleaning. Do know how much it takes to clean the barrel of a tank cannon?????

Still use it for cleaning my guns. Never tried it as a penitrating oil. About the best I've found is PB Blaster and that isn't as good as they would have you believe unless you have time to let something set.

Most of my rusted nut problems are cured with a fire wrench. Little heat works wonders!
