OT - LCD televisions?

I was wondering how good LCD screens on televisions are. Can one see the picture clearly if sitting off to one side or in bright light? My only experience with the LCD screens are with my laptop computer.

For those that have a LCD television, would you mind giving your opinion of what are the good points as well as the bad point of the screen? Brand names too - if you want to include that.

They are suposed to last 7-10 times longer than the plasma's. Used to be poor at bluring motion, but have gotten a lot better. Hi Def makes you think you are there. Have no complaints, other than $$$. Everybody, EVERYBODY, that comes over has either gon out to get one, or are on the way to after seeing mine..LG 42". Mike

They are awesome. Just make sure to get one with a built in SCALER. That way when something was filmed in the old 4:3 scale and you view them on the new 14:9 scale you dont end up with short fat people. My father retired from Sony Records so I get good deals with him. The viewing from an angle is very good.

I would say the most important thing to do is get the new Direct HD Tivo! Tivo is the best invention for anyone that watches TV. You can record every show and FF through all of the commercials!
