I bought some hoping to keep mice and other vermin out of where I don't want them. After reading the package, I am wondering if I want to use them. Any one have problems with them?
thanks joe

I didn't know moths had those. LOL.I use dryer sheets in my parked vehicles and it seams to keep mice out. Smells alittle better also.

LOL the way things are going they will outlaw most any thing. Remember back years ago DDT and or Chlordane?? Both now gone because they where bad, but we did not have problems with ticks back then LOL. Still remember when we went to visit my grand parents many places around there home you would smell moth balls but I ma still alive LOL

Old- They are really hard to harvest from the little critters.
Seriously, I have used them in cars and also my boat. Seems to work well and when removed the odor goes away quickly.
I tried dryer sheets one winter and the mice chewed em up and made nests out of em.

Mothballs used to be made from Napthalene - one of the byproducts of coke production in the steel mill where I work. It is toxic and requires you to wear a respirator when exposed.
I don't think napthalene is currently used for moth balls as the odor has changed from what I remember as a kid when my mother took my winter sweaters out of storage....
Probably replaced by something cheaper and hopefully less nasty.

I don't know if moth balls are safe or not. But people that live in cold climates buy moth balls by the bag to keep mice from eating up the wiring harness in their combines.

It is just by accident but pets and children do not play in the combines when "winterized" with moth balls.

I put some in a tool cabinet years ago and they have since evaporated, however, there is still a faint smell and no varmints. Also, I have a storage building that I keep some in, again, no varmints.

I would keep them away from children.
