Don't matter what your age, as long as you can ride the N tractor, Life is Good. Now shoot for the goal of 100 years of age. Bet your N tractor will still be going when your going at 100 also. Happy Birthday ! TJ

So, does full benefit social security kick in for you now?

I have one more year to go for that. but since I just turned 65 I did get medicare. For the last ten years I've been paying for my own medical insurance by Kaiser. This years monthly payment was $690.00.

Thankfully I only had to make two of those payments, then Medicare kicked in. I still have Kaiser but now it's their Senior Advantage Plan. There is no monthly payment at all but I do pay about $99 per month for Medicare.

Not bad going from $690.00 down to $99.00 per month for the same services.

Congrats on your birthday Bob! Next goal will be 70 1/2, which I hit last year when the government makes you withdraw & pay taxes from your IRA. I find that there is no free lunch!!! Bill

I think our Canadian system is somewhat different than yours. We already have a gov't health care plan. At age 60 you can get the Canadian Pension Plan (which is paid into via a % of your taxable income AND continue to work without penalty), then at 65 you get the Old Age Security $$. In my case they don't amount to too much, but it is the only pension(s) I get. There are plusses and minuses to self employment.
