First off I gotta tell ya Spring has 'Sprung'!! Over 20C here this afternoon - yaay ! The question is; what is the correct orientation for an SMV triangle ? - pointy end up or down? I made the silly mistake of calling our Gov't office about moving the tractor about 500M to the neighbors joint to help grade his drive - result " The vehicle MUST be insured for road use", phoned the local (gov't only ins. supplier) agent and was told $48 for a 1 day pass. I have a few choice phrases I could have used, but didn't, so I'm probly going to 'flaunt' the rules (living on the edge), what a PITA !!!

They would have to catch me!!!

How are ya doin' Dunk ? I'm sure I can 'pull it off' but it won't be hard to catch me @ 11 mph on my JD ! In earlier yrs. all you needed was the SMV triangle, now --phuque them !!

11 mph, 500M how many minutes is that?

I am having some trouble breathing if I move around much, but have been playin with the N some.

Dell, around here if you don't gots a hard hat, an orange and yellow reflective vest you are'nt allowed to walk on the sidewalk !! Good thing there ain't no sidewalks where I'm at !! It gets dumber and dumber every day---amazing. b
P.S. How the heck are you doin'? Still chowin' down on the 'rat pizzen'? Good thing I'm the epitome of health--cough/hack/spit.

Not too many, but with my luck some farm boy from Saskatchewan mountie would be on his way to the donut shop and seeing that his 'duty must be done' (an actual motto), you know the rest.

HEY!! Still didn't get an answer to the orig. ?? grin. ;^)
Pointy end up around here. Least that's what I've always saw.
Doubt it really matters though.

500M? I'd play dumb if stopped & say "ah sh#t" alot if they start quoting the law to you...

THANK-YOU ! I just might push the envelope (a rebel) and hang the sucker downside up!! Up the revolution down with the oinks - etc., etc.
Feeling feisty, just dealt with the tax yobbos and unless they read this post --sshhhh. I won.

A few years ago I was up at one of my friend's camps at Lake Mazinaw. We needed to pull the raft in for repairs, so I crossed the road and walked down to the lake, and he got the 4 wheeler ready to cross the road and come down to the lake - didn't show up for quite a while & when he finally got down there told me that the OPP came along as he was about to cross the road and told him he could not drive the 4 wheeler across the road or they would arrest him if he did.......ridiculous, but then again, rules is rules!!!

Bob.......gotta go see the vampire inna few. No food since midnite, tummy growlin'. Last time it took'em 3-trys to find the vein. Told'em I was gonna pull his fangs. (frown) God Bless the Lawyers, 'cuz I shure ain't .......Dell

I asked an OPP traffic guy that exact question whether I needed licence or anything else to take my 8N up the road and he said no.
Ya gotta remember that Ottawa is supposedly an old Indian word that means "where tow rivers meet" when in actuality it means "where the mind narrows"

Bob , I asked the same question of driving on the road , the answer I got was "no" , vehicle was never registered and never licensed. But I drive it on the road to my neighbours anyway, just keep well to the right and keep out of the way of logging trucks going 80klm. If you are a bonifed farmer you can get yearly liability insurance to travel to get tractor to & from destinations of your farm or leased farm or to town for repairs.

This is the darndest thing I ever heard of. Here in upstate NY I can drive my tractor anywhere I please, and have for many years. I am supposed to have a SMV sign, but usually don"t. I have been dumb enough to assume you could do the same most anywhere except in a large city. The kids have a special day where they drive the family tractor to school one day a year. Some of course don"t have a drivers license yet, but usually a tractor safety course.

Heck, I've driven my tractor to town for lunch, park right on main street, my triangle is up, but I don't think it matters.
