OT tire chain question

i have 44 H with tire chains the tires 12.4 38 so how wide should the chains be laying flat on the ground to be a good fit and not come off

I cant answer that, but i helped my brother put his chains on at Christmas time,he had too tighten them twice, and then they stayed where they belonged,and he doesn't go too far.

Chains for my Super H (12.4 tires) are about 14" wide.

Don't know if they are sized "correctly" for these tires (the chains were given to me....) But they fit up OK and stay in place once properly tightened.

The wider the chains are the harder it will be for them to work their way off. Chains on my Super H, 12.4x38 tires the side chains almost reach the rims. I dare say it's impossible for them to work their way off.

A 12.4 tire is about 12.5 inches wide. I would not want anything less then a chain that is at least 16 inches wide but 18-20 would be even better
