Dental implant-Dentist says I need at least one tooth done with implant--Said at least $1500 for oral surgery plus $1273 for implant and crown and $713 for something else(can't read her writing-planned that way I think)...And some other cost he would not say what......so $3486.00 plus more undisclosed cost for one tooth..I think this is pure theft--I told him I might just have to start eating only mashed ripe bananas..Anyone had this done?

i haven't, but a few years ago, i asked about a full implant, and my dentist told me to figure around three grand. since he would be referring me to someone else, he wasn't the thief, but that sounds like the going rate.

Mine is not front but is one of last ones on top rear that does match another one on the bottom--but $5 grand-no way front back or anywhere else........First time to go to this dude--going for cleaning early April then I might turn him out to pasture..If he laughs all the way to the bank it won't be because I filled his pockets, and helped buy his new house and 100 acres of land and Escalade..

Friend's wife has lost teeth and the jaw bone has deteriorated. She has to have some bone transplant then some other oral surgery, then implants. Total of $40,000.

Would have never considered changing dentist but driving 40 miles to the dentist got to be a problem..Going to look hard at finding someone for hire who could get me there--just don;t think this new dude is going to be my choice--wife always stroked out about having to go so far to the dentist and we are getting old and not as mobile as we use to be..have gone to the one 40 miles away for 20 yrs or more..He's honest-he don't recommend stuff you don't need or that isn't practical...Gotta figure a way to stay with him...

I might just have to get like a guy my Dad use to work with. The guy was toothless and my Dad saw him bite an apple and eat it as if he had a nouth full of teeth...

My wife has several $Ks tied up in that work. The dentists pay whole sale and screw you big on the retail side. It's a real money getter for them. It was cheaper in the old days to get some kind of bridge.

My dentist and I always get a good laugh out of those conversations.
I listen politely, then tell him to pull it.(He knew already)
I'm missing 5 if I remember right.....including one big $ crowned tooth that always felt like exactly what it was....something fake...glad it's gone.
Your body adjusts, I eat whatever, no problems.

The hardest thing in todays 'we know what's best for you' world is finding a dentist that will actually pull them!

40 miles once in a while to go to the dentist is not a big deal in my mind. I went to a dentist yesterday that is an hour from home, But, I drive 50 miles one way every day to work, so I switched dentists to one close to where I work. Closest little town is 4 miles from where I live, however not much there in the way of services aside from gas and a grocery store, certainly no dentist, or even a barber, or even a decent place to work. Hard to believe at one time it had two new car dealerships, and about every service one could ask for aside from a hospital. Today, I either drive an hour to pick something up, buy online or do without. Any more I have just gotten used to being an hour from everywhere, and figure it could be worse, but I enjoy the peace and quiet. Traffic on my road doubles if I go to work most days since some days the only other traffic is the mail carrier, road hunter, beer drinking kids, methhead, or most likely a combination of hunting/drinking/methhead. Sorry if I got off subject.

If they pull them they cant keep patching and gouging you for $,,,Most of em are dishonest
legalized rip off artists..there for one purpose--to rob you blind and laugh all the way to
the bank..

Dentist's are some of the best paid doctors out there. I have a friend who has a fairly large dental office (2-3 doctors and a couple of hygienists)in northern Virginia which is an expensive area. He grosses over 10,000,000 a year in sales. He does minor surgery only, mostly fillings, crowns orthodontics and stuff like that. No emergency calls to speak of. Lots of profit.
