1951, M38A1--I assume has a distributor and points somewhere??? Never seen this rig-my Brother is trying to help someone get it going..said he sprayed some starting fluid in the carburetor and it did not hit..I told him to spray a little starting fluid in a plug hole or two and see if it will hit.Anyone know of a site where I might get info on this particular Jeep? Thanks

Not trying to sound like a smart-a--, but if it has plug wires they should lead you to the distributor. Judging by the numbers it is obviously a military model. Could be the distributor is covered by some kind of waterproofing mechanism. To be honest, I am not too familiar with jeeps, just my 2 cents.

a vendor of fleabay, www.surplusjeep.com has manuals listed for sale. As I recall the distributor is so robust it is not readily apparent, but the plug wires do lead to it.

An M38a1 is a military jeep that was originallly 24 volt. It had two batteries up by the windshield. The distributor is a waterproof type unless it was converted to 12 volt, or they put a different coil in it. They are interesting to work on, but doable. The best site I have found is www.g503.com. Spark plug wires are shielded and the spark plugs are very odd looking.
